Privacy policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
This policy explains how Zimpla ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information in connection with our software, including Freight Manager, and this website. We follow the Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
Two kinds of personal information
Information about you and your team. When your business uses our software, we collect details about the people who use it. We decide how this information is used and we're responsible for it.
Information about your customers. When you use Freight Manager to send orders, you put in your customers' names, delivery addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. We hold and process that information on your behalf, only to provide the Service to you. Your business remains responsible for it under the Privacy Act, and we don't use it for any purpose of our own.
What we collect
- Contact and account details: names, work email addresses, phone numbers and business details.
- Billing details: your plan and payment history. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Usage and technical information: sign-in times, the actions taken in your account, IP addresses and browser details, which we use to keep the Service secure and working.
- Messages you send us, such as support emails.
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To set up and run your account and provide the Service.
- To bill you and keep financial records.
- To provide support and tell you about changes to the Service.
- To keep the Service secure and to prevent misuse.
- To understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We'll only send you marketing emails if you've agreed to them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
We don't sell personal information. We share it only with:
- the carriers, online stores and accounting services you choose to connect, to carry out what you ask Freight Manager to do (for example, sending a delivery address to a carrier to create a label);
- service providers that help us run the Service: Microsoft Azure (hosting, in Australia), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (this website) and our email delivery provider; and
- authorities, where the law requires us to.
Storing information overseas
Our software is hosted on Microsoft Azure in Australia. Stripe and Cloudflare may process information in other countries, including the United States. We use providers that are required to protect personal information in ways that, overall, give safeguards comparable to those in New Zealand's Privacy Act.
Keeping it safe
Information is encrypted when it travels between your browser and our software. Each business's records are kept separate from every other customer's, and only the people who need access to run the Service can reach the systems that hold them.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. If you cancel, you can ask for an export of your data for 30 days after your access ends; after that we delete it within 90 days. We keep billing records for as long as New Zealand tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email our privacy officer at hello@zimpla.work and we'll respond within 20 working days. If your request is about your customers' information in Freight Manager, we'll help the business that holds it to respond.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here and, if the changes are significant, email our customers.
